frequently asked questions

  • What is “art jewelry”?

In my opinion, art jewelry does not have a clear-cut definition. To me, art jewelry is one-of-a-kind and expressive, and often mixed-media. I choose to make art jewelry because I love jewelry that makes a statement and lets you know a little about the wearer.

  • What’s protecting the mini paintings from damage?

Resin! The paintings are first sealed and then resin is poured over to keep them protected. They should be safe from water damage, but I highly recommend not submerging your jewelry in water.

  • Why do you use brass and copper? Doesn’t that turn your skin green?

I use brass because I can’t afford gold! I love the warmth of the metal. And yes, brass can turn your skin green after oxidizing and mixing with the oils in your skin. However, I only use brass as a more “decorative” element, and I make sure that these elements don’t lay directly against the skin. The main components of my jewelry are made with sterling silver.

  • do you offer repairs?

your handmade jewelry should be handled with care, just like any piece of art! be sure to pay attention to the care instructions included with your order. i will not offer free repairs when damage is accidental/caused by improper care. if you believe your piece is damaged because of a flaw, contact me.

  • how about resizing?

  • any rings that include a painting/resin cannot be resized.

  • Do you offer custom orders?

jewelry care recommendations

  • store in a cool, dry place out of direct sun

  • avoid piling jewelry together in storage - this can cause scratches in the metal and/or resin. Storing in original packaging would be great!

  • although your mini painting is sealed, it's good practice with any jewelry to avoid water and chemicals. Remove before showering, sleeping, swimming, cleaning, applying lotion/perfume/hair products

  • Silver, copper, and brass will inevitably tarnish. Clean only with a soft, dry, lint free polishing cloth meant for these metals. Yellow Sunshine polishing cloths are my favorite (you can find them on amazon). Avoid cleaning solutions/steaming/ultrasonic cleaning.

  • Treat your new piece of art with care and it should last for years to come!
